Building and Growing your Major Gifts Program, a 3-part Series: Part 1

Join Kileen Marshall, CAP, as she presents the first of three trainings to take your organization's donor/major gifts program from concept to practice to sustainability. Presented in March, May, and September, each session will build upon the last, forming a coherent "map" outlining the basic philosophies, skills, and tools you need throughout the year to craft and execute an effective donor strategy. And while the content builds upon itself, each session is also a stand-alone topic that will be useful no matter where you are in the process, so please join us for just one or all three sessions.
Our series begins with "Creating an Overall Strategy for your Development Program". It includes an overview of major gifts fundraising, the tools to create an annual calendar for your development program, and a strategically designed portfolio. If you find you're constantly running from one project to the next with no time to pause and create a comprehensive fundraising strategy, this session is for you.
In this training, you'll learn about:
* Major Gifts 101 - "Major Gifts" is not just for large nonprofit organizations
* Creating an annual development calendar
* Strategically building your donor portfolio
The second session on May 15 is a half-day deep dive into donor development. "Crafting Donor Strategies and Getting the Most out of your Database" unpacks the fundraising cycle using some of your own donors and experiences to talk about practical applications of your donor database. If you're dreading dealing with your database, don't know quite what to do with your donors, or are at a "stuck point" with a donor, this is a must-attend session.
Our third and final session on September 18th is titled "Accountability Check-in: How's it going? Donor Strategies with an Eye Towards Year-End Conversations". In this session, we'll do the following:
* Touch base on how your annual donor strategies are working
* Workshop some of your donor strategies in real time
* Reinforce concepts and action items for your fundraising cycle,
* And chat about year-end strategies like conversations with donors to secure gifts before December 31.
